A Day of Creativity and Celebration
This past weekend, Orwell Arts hosted their annual Festive Open Day. They welcomed family, friends and the general public alike, to see what the workshops get up to all year and to soak up the festive atmosphere.
The day's activities included mosaic tile-making, glass bead-making, gift tag and Christmas card design, and a weaving taster session on miniature looms. The Media workshop also displayed their new portrait photography exhibition and screened a short documentary about horse riding, made by Orwell members.
Of course, all this activity was fuelled by the hard work of the Kitchen workshop, who made sure everyone was well fed with soups, cakes and the tastiest cheese scones for 100 miles!
At noon, the workshops downed tools and gathered in the stairwell for carol singing, accompanied by beautiful bells (Orwell Arts members had been practicing diligently in the weeks leading up to the Open Day, and it showed in the performance).
It was wonderful to see friends, old and new, bringing their curiosity and creativity to each workshop.
